With Election Day approaching, Yellowknife voters are encouraged to learn more about the candidates running in the 2026 Yellowknife Municipal Election.
Nominations for the election closed at 3:00 p.m. on September 21, 2026, followed by the statutory candidate withdrawal and eligibility challenge periods. The deadline to question candidate eligibility was 3:00 p.m. on September 24, 2026. The candidate list is now final.
Profiles and contact information for the Mayoral and City Councillor candidates are available on the City of Yellowknife website. Residents are encouraged to review the candidate information and stay informed about the candidates’ priorities and campaigns ahead of Election Day.

Election Day
The 2026 Yellowknife Municipal Election will be held on Monday, October 19, 2026. Yellowknife voters will elect one Mayor and up to eight City Councillors.
Voting will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Residents can access free City transit to travel to and from the five voting centres:
1. Weledeh Catholic School, 5023 46 Street
2. Tree of Peace Friendship Centre, 5011 51 Street
3. École Įtłʼǫ̀, 5700 51A Avenue
4. Yellowknife Multiplex, 41 Kam Lake Road
5. Range Lake North School, 170 Borden Drive
