The City of Yellowknife is inviting residents to explore what electric vehicle ownership looks like in the North at the free Electric Vehicle (EV) Awareness Symposium on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the ATCO Aquatic Centre parking lot.

Hosted in partnership with Arctic Energy Alliance, the Yellowknife Car Share Co-op, Naka Power Utilities, the Government of the Northwest Territories Energy Division, and Ecology North, the symposium brings together local EV owners, technical experts, and community organizations to answer questions, share firsthand experiences, and demonstrate how electric vehicles perform in northern conditions.

“This symposium provides residents with the opportunity to explore electric vehicle ownership through demonstrations, conversations, and firsthand experience,” said Greg Littlefair, Acting Director of Planning and Development. “Supporting informed decision-making is an important part of implementing the City's Climate Action Plan, and this symposium creates a space for meaningful dialogue and collaboration to help build a more sustainable Yellowknife.”

Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend.

The City of Yellowknife gratefully acknowledges the financial support of Natural Resources Canada through the Education and Awareness Project Funding – Electric Vehicle Test Drives and Charging Education Program.
