On Monday, June 16, 2025, at 8:00 a.m., the Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) responded to a report of fire and smoke at a residence on Forman Court.
Upon arrival, firefighters determined that the incident was an electrical fire located in the homeowner’s basement. Before YKFD’s arrival, the homeowner had shut off power to the affected appliance, and the fire had extinguished itself.
Firefighters entered the residence and found smoke throughout the home, which had been distributed via the ventilation system. They assisted the homeowner in ventilating the building and confirmed there was no presence of carbon monoxide.
The Yellowknife Fire Division extends its appreciation to the Municipal Enforcement Division for their support during this incident.
