National Indigenous Peoples Day 2026

The City wishes all Yellowknifers a happy National Indigenous Peoples Day, with special recognition of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples in our community, on Sunday, June 21, 2026. As the statutory holiday falls on a Sunday, a substitute holiday will be observed on Monday, June 22, 2026. City of Yellowknife facilities and services will operate as follows:

  • City Hall: Closed
  • Solid Waste Facility: Closed
  • Garbage Collection: Operating on a regular schedule
  • Trucked Water and Sewer Pumpout: Operating on regular schedule
  • Fieldhouse: Open 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Multiplex: Open 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Aquatic Centre: Open for Lane Swim from 12 noon – 1 p.m. and Public Swim from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Yellowknife Community Arena: Closed
  • Yellowknife Public Library: Open 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Visitor Information Centre: Open during regular hours
  • Municipal Enforcement Division Office: Closed
  • MED Emergency Services: Operating on a regular schedule
  • YKTransit (including YKFlex): Not operating
