Reminder: October 9 is the Deadline to Register or Update the Voters List

Eligible residents are reminded to check their voter information as soon as possible to confirm their eligibility and ensure their information is accurate for the 2026 Municipal Election.

Friday, October 9, 2026, is the deadline to make additions, deletions, or revisions to the Voters List. Voters who miss this deadline will still be able to register at a Voting Station on Election Day. Being on the Voters List will help ensure a smooth and efficient voting experience. 

Residents can check their voter information, update their information, or register through Elections NWT.

Who is Eligible to Vote?

To be eligible to vote, a person must:
•    be at least 18 years of age;
•    be a Canadian citizen; and
•    have been a resident of Yellowknife continuously since October 19, 2025.

After October 9, 2026, changes to the Voters List can no longer be accepted.

Not on the Voters List?

Eligible voters are strongly advised to verify their registration information before the deadline to make changes to the Voters List. Being on the Voters List will help ensure a smooth and efficient voting experience on Election Day. Inaccurate or outdated information may require additional identity verification on-site, which could result in significant delays on Election Day.

Residents can check their voter registration record online or review a physical copy of the Voters List at any of the following five locations:

•    Elections NWT (Office of the Returning Officer), 3/F, 4915 48 Street
•    Yellowknife City Hall, 4807 52 Street
•    Yellowknife Public Library, 2/F, Centre Square Mall, 5022 49 Street
•    Yellowknife Catholic Schools (YCS) Offices, 5124 49 Street
•    Yellowknife Education District No. 1 (YK1) Offices, 5402 50 Avenue Yellowknife
