50 Ave Summer Road Closure

All transit routes in Yellowknife will be affected during the summer construction period from June 26 to August 30, 2026, due to a major sewer forcemain replacement project along 50 Avenue toward 45 Street, near the new lift station by School Draw Avenue.

Construction will run:

• 7 days a week
• 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• With occasional extensions up to 11:00 p.m.

To manage the disruption:

• Transit schedules posted at bus stops will be updated on June 21–22
• Riders are strongly encouraged to use the Passio GO! app for real-time route and schedule updates

The City understands that construction along one of Yellowknife’s key transportation corridors can be disruptive and thanks residents, businesses, and commuters for their patience and understanding. 

While the work may cause some temporary inconvenience, it is an important investment in keeping essential services reliable and supporting the community for years to come. Everyone is encouraged to plan ahead, give themselves a little extra travel time, and follow posted signs and directions from traffic control personnel.
