Due to improved weather conditions across the region, the City of Yellowknife has lifted its fire ban effective July 29, 2026, at 12:00 a.m., in coordination with the North Slave Region’s fire ban rescind.
This means open fires are once again permitted where they are otherwise allowed, although residents are still expected to use caution and follow local fire safety rules.
The City thanks residents and visitors for their cooperation during the fire ban. Although the ban has been lifted, everyone is reminded to use caution with open fires, as wildfire conditions can change quickly. The City will continue to monitor conditions and share updates on its website and social media channels
