The City of Yellowknife has been actively reviewing and providing recommendations on the Giant Mine Remediation Project for more than a decade. Throughout this time, the City has been present and engaged at every turn, seeking to ensure that the remediation meets our citizens’ expectations and needs.
Three principles have guided our involvement:
- A reclamation that will result in a healthy and safe environment that is valuable to our city
- Ensuring a clear and transparent plan to guide the reclamation
- Opportunity for northerners to participate in the remediation, ensuring that it benefits our citizens
