The City of Yellowknife’s application to renew its Water Licence for municipal operations (Water Licence MV2009L3-0007) was approved in 2022 for a 15‑year term. The licence took effect on May 31, 2022 and will expire on May 30, 2037.

About the Engagement
Under the NWT Waters Act, the City of Yellowknife requires a licence from the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board (MVLWB) to draw water from local water bodies and to deposit waste.
