Encampment Fire Extinguished

At approximately 11:54 a.m. today, the Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) responded to a fire at an urban encampment located beside the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre.

YKFD arrived to find an active fire involving a tent of approximately 25 feet by 25 feet in size. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished. No injuries were reported. Municipal Enforcement attended the scene for traffic control.

Fraudulent Parking Ticket Texts

The City of Yellowknife (the City) wishes to advise the public of fraudulent text messages currently being sent to residents regarding parking tickets.

Members of the public have reported being sent text messages that advise they have unpaid parking tickets which must be paid.  These text messages are not being sent from the City, as information from the City regarding enforcement matters would never be communicated in this manner.
