Yellowknife not at Threat

The City of Yellowknife (the City) would like to assure residents that despite the increasingly smoky conditions, our community is not currently at risk due to the ongoing wildfires. As a result of strong westerly winds, NWT Fire had previously forecasted smoky conditions for the city going into this weekend.

The City of Yellowknife invites all residents to participate in its annual reconciliation gathering to create a vision for what Reconciliation looks like in Yellowknife, and what it should entail moving forward. Yellowknife Firesmarting Commences

The City of Yellowknife would like to advise residents that firesmarting work has commenced in the community. 

Heavy equipment will be operating in the sand pits to expand firebreaks.  Residents are asked to avoid the work area and follow all signage.  City staff have removed sprinklers from community parks and will begin installation in the Kam Lake area today.

The City of Yellowknife would like to update residents on proactive actions we are taking  in response to Behchokǫ̀/ Yellowknife Fire ZF015, which is currently burning 37km northwest of Yellowknife.
