Welcome Home Gathering

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 23, 2023: Due to the air quality currently in Yellowknife, the City of Yellowknife (the City) is cancelling its Welcome Home Gathering planned for today, September 23, 2023. While it's an unfortunate outcome, the safety of everyone is our primary concern.

Please stay tuned for more information about a potential future event in the coming weeks.

Fall Amnesty Day 2023

The City of Yellowknife is excited to announce that Amnesty Day at the Solid Waste Facility will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 10 a.m. until 4:15 p.m.

During this time, the residential $16.50 tipping fee at the Solid Waste Facility will be waived but other tipping and out of town fees will still apply.

Please note: Commercial vehicles are not included under the Residential Vehicle Charge and therefore will be charged commercial rates during Amnesty Day.

Fall Program Registration

The City of Yellowknife is pleased to announce that registration for 2023 Fall Recreational Programs will open on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 9:00 a.m.

Residents can register for programs online or by calling (867) 920-5683 or (867) 669-3457. To register online, residents must log in or create an account using the instructions provided online. To explore the recreational programming available and to register, visit www.yellowknife.ca/Programs.

New Director of Corporate Services

The City of Yellowknife (the City) is happy to welcome Kavi Pandoo to the City’s senior leadership team as the Director of Corporate Services.

With extensive finance and executive experience, Kavi started at City Hall on September 14, 2023. His education and Certified Public Accountant designation, along with his experience in the municipal and private sectors, both in Canada and abroad, will be an asset in leading the City’s corporate functions which include finance, budgeting, asset management...
