The City of Yellowknife continues to work closely with the Government of Northwest Territories Emergency Management Office, Tłı̨chǫ Government, and communities to coordinate evacuee services.

Whatì Evacuees – Yellowknife Reception Centre Now Open

The Fieldhouse reception center is now open.

It currently has 110 beds available, access to showers, and essential facilities.

All evacuees must sign in at the Tłı̨chǫ reception desk, located on site until 10:00 p.m. and re-opening at 6:30 a.m.

The City of Yellowknife is preparing to welcome residents of Whatì who were ordered to evacuate their community as a result of the threat of wildfire ZF048-25.

The City is working with several Government of the Northwest Territories departments through the North Slave Regional Emergency Management Organization (REMO) to coordinate resources and provide necessary support. The Behchokǫ̀ Sports Plex is now open as an evacuation center and actively registering evacuees.

City of Yellowknife Fall/Winter Hours 2025

The City of Yellowknife advises residents that, effective Tuesday, September 2, 2025, until Friday, May 15, 2026, City Hall will operate under Fall/Winter hours and be open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Summer hours will resume on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, following the Victoria Day holiday.

Residents are encouraged to take note of the adjusted hours and plan their visits accordingly.
