Cross Country Skiing

Groomed cross-country ski trails are managed by the Yellowknife Ski Club. The club is located off the old Highway 4, extending from 48th Street downtown.

There are numerous informal trails around town for recreational cross-country skiing. There are also many ‘guerrilla groomers’ who use their own equipment to set up ski trails throughout the city. Just look out for snowmobiles and dog teams!

The Yellowknife Ski Updates group on Facebook is a great source for relevant information on trails.

Please wear reflective clothing and/or a headlight after sunset.

Snowboarding

A small terrain park and lift are located at Bristol Pit complex. It is jointly maintained by the City of Yellowknife and the Ragged Riders Snowsports Society (RRSS).

RRSS sets the operating hours, sells memberships, rents equipment, and provides lessons.

The season roughly begins in late Dec., early January and runs through till mid-April.
