Commemorative Bench Program

Benches are an important feature of parks and trails maintained by the City of Yellowknife. They provide welcoming spaces for residents and visitors to rest and enjoy the beauty of Yellowknife’s Parks and Trail System.

Administered by Community Services, the Commemorative Bench Program offers a meaningful way to contribute to City-owned parks by donating a standardized bench that will be installed and maintained by the City.

Honouring Someone Special

Benches may be donated:

  • In memory of a loved one
  • To honour a person or group
  • To recognize a special occasion

Bench and plaque locations are selected by the Manager of Facilities, with donor input welcomed.

The Loraine Minish-Cooper Garden of Hope Memorial Plaque Program

The Memorial Plaque Program offers anyone the opportunity to dedicate a spot in the Garden of Hope to their loved ones. All plaques follow the same specifications, and are mounted onto posts at the bottom of the garden.

Each plaque costs $200, and all proceeds go towards the maintenance of the garden.
